Moncef Slaoui, a veteran prescribed drugs executive who helped guide the U.S. government’s expenditure in Covid-19 vaccine advancement, has been fired as chairman of the board of a biotechnology startup backed by GlaxoSmithKline PLC and Google-dad or mum Alphabet Inc. following an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment.
Glaxo, a U.K.-dependent drugmaker, received a letter past month alleging that Dr. Slaoui various decades ago had committed acts of sexual harassment and inappropriate perform towards a Glaxo personnel, Glaxo Chief Government Emma Walmsley claimed in a companywide electronic mail to personnel reviewed by The Wall Road Journal.
The alleged misconduct happened although Dr. Slaoui was employed by Glaxo, exactly where he led the company’s vaccines device and sat on the board of administrators just before retiring in 2017.
Glaxo claimed it hired a regulation firm to conduct an investigation and that the regulation firm substantiated the allegations.
The investigation led to the termination of Dr. Slaoui’s occupation as chairman of Galvani Bioelectronics, a medical exploration company formed as a joint undertaking by Glaxo and Alphabet subsidiary Verily Lifetime Sciences, Glaxo claimed. Glaxo is Galvani’s vast majority shareholder.
