October 29, 2008

DEERFIELD—Today, Democratic Congressional Candidate Dan Seals joined with women from across the 10th district at the Law Office of Elizabeth Guscott-Mueller to discuss his support for equal pay for equal work. While Mark Kirk has joined with John McCain and Republican leadership in Congress by opposing pay equity, Seals cited his experience being raised by a single mother and pledged to fight for the change our families need in Washington by standing up for economic fairness, including equal pay for equal work. Seals Stands With Obama and Makes Strong Case for Change, As Kirk Stands for More of the Same

"In 2000, when my oldest daughter was born, America had a $300 billion surplus, gas was a $1.85 a gallon and the future looked bright. Eight years later, we have the biggest deficit in history, the biggest stock market losses in history, and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression," Seals said. Statement from Democratic Congressional Candidate Dan Seals on the Bailout Bill

September 30, 2008

DEERFIELD—Today, Democratic Congressional Candidate Dan Seals released the following statement on the bailout bill that failed in the House of Representatives:

"The financial crisis is one more sign that Washington is broken. Over the past 7 years, we've had a government policy of looking the other way. Now that the damage has been done, the only thing worse than a bailout would be no bailout.

"The bailout proposal was a huge improvement from Sec. Paulsen's original draft, but we can do a lot better. We need to have stronger oversight measures and provisions to restrict CEO pay. Now more than ever, our legislators in Washington must come together in a bipartisan fashion to take immediate action and help Americans deal with this economic crisis."
